From Master Classes to Your Career

Wittenborg Business School's Postgraduate Master Level IBA Programme continues after Bachelor to Master level, using the same style and approach to education as the Final Year Programme. The Master IBA is a 120 European credit programme and can be studied in 1, 1½ or 2 years, depending on a student’s previous work experience. The programme is aimed at graduates who are looking to achieve a second degree, in the Netherlands, in the form of a Postgraduate Certificate.

The postgraduate programme continues the education concepts of the Bachelor IBA, and combines academic research, workshops and seminars with work experience and consultancy. Future international entrepreneurs and aspirant starters of internationally orientated small to medium sized companies will find themselves at home in the postgraduate degree course. Students follow Tutoring and PDP in the same way as during the Final Year programme.

Seminars
Seven of the research core modules are given in seminar or workshop form. Seminars are taught by guest lecturers from the field of international business:- representatives of industry, business, non-profit organisations, SME companiesand corporations. Seminars are given as a series of intensive workshops, projects and lectures over a period of two days, every two weeks. Seminars are prepared through research questions given to students through their tutoring and completed with the writing of a research paper. At least two seminar periods per module area are given.Students must complete fourteen seminar papers in total.

Work Placement
Students without at least 3 years of experience in a (semi) managerial function within an internationally orientated company or organisation must complete the work placement component of the programme. MIBA students are placed in European companies as Junior Trainee Consultants, and are expected to carry out duties that involve them in consultancy tasks for that company, in one or more of the areas the MIBA modules cover. Work placement is arranged by Wittenborg’s office of External Relations, and students will be paid a traineeship fee. Work placement can start as soon as the programme starts, and as soon as students can be linked to companies. Wittenborg arranges all necessary work permits and contracts with the company. Work placement is completed with a reflective report, linked to the PDP module.

Final Dissertation
The postgraduate IBA final dissertation is carried out as an action learning research project, instigated by a company or organisation, either as part of a work placement, or involving outside research and desk research. Final Dissertations are guided by a student’s personal tutor and representatives from the company or organisation and Wittenborg’s External Relations Office.
