The aims of this module are for you to develop a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental concepts and techniques of financial and management accounting and financial management, through demonstrating a critical understanding of the role and structure of the finance and control functions within an organisation. This module will enable you to critically evaluate relevant financial information for control and decision-making and employ quantitative and qualitative techniques to prepare reports and analyse financial data. You will also master the ability to analyse and evaluate financial information and present results in an appropriate form.
This module looks at aspects such as the environment of accounting and the accountant`s role in the organisation, accounting concepts and policies, profit and loss, the balance sheet, cash flow, financial statements, and the interpretation and evaluation of accounts. It deals with ratios, comparisons and trends, and looks at investment appraisal, return on investment, and budgeting and budgetary control, including the behavioural implications of budgeting.
